If you are going to have a web site, then you are going to need to register a domain name. Sounds like scary stuff, huh?

Don’t worry. Registering a domain name is cake and I have the video to prove it. But first let’s talk about why you need a domain name.

A domain name is the name you see in the address bar of your web browser,such as
www.google.com. google.com is the domain name for google.

Now there’s a long drawn out explanation as to why you need a domain name and how domain names work out in the wild wild web. But we’re not going in to that today.

So the short answer is… to have your own site on the internet you need to register a domain name.

You can use any registrar you want, but the one I’ve found to be the easiest to use is godaddy.
