So I’ll keep this short and try to hit the basics.

An information product is, well, information.

It can be a book, ebook, report, manual, audio, CD, DVD… the list is endless.

Typically you create an information product about some area of expertise you have or something you are extremely passionate about.

You can also buy the resale rights to popular hot selling products and sell them from your site.

Next to affiliate marketing, selling information may be the easiest line of marketing you can enter.

And with selling your own information, you get to keep 100% of the profits!

Here’s how I did it.

I had an awesome idea for a software product(actually more than one). I went to a site called elance and commisioned a programmer to create the software for me,
to my specifications.

When the product was complete I paid the programmer and started selling the software online.

It really is almost that simple.

Most people are staggering under the weight of being unable to pay for the necessities of life much less the luxuries. People are searching like they have never searched before- many working two and three jobs and many more are desperately seeking the secret of having a successful home business. If this describes you, you’re in luck, this article will reveal the six simple steps to starting a home based internet business.

Step 1: Identify the market you will focus your efforts in. The number one key to having a successful home business is in finding a viable market to work in. It should be a market that is easily reached and a market where people are currently buying and selling products already. You can start your search by considering the things you like to do or are skilled at doing. Think about things that interest you or things that frustrate you. Be sure to always investigate the market to determine it is viable and active.

Step 2: Source your product. Product sourcing can be as easy as finding a product you can promote via an affiliate program, to creating your own information product that solves a burning problem or answers a real need in the marketplace.

Step 3: Do your keyword research. All successful home based internet businesses rely on in depth keyword research to identify the most likely prospects for their business. You cannot simply focus on the broad one and two word keyword searches anymore, you must go deep and find the long keyword searches that buyers are typing in with cash in hand ready to make a purchase.

Step 4: Create your sales process. Once you discover what your market is searching for, you will want to setup your sales process. You will either have a sales page for the product you have created or you will be preselling prospects on the products you are an affiliate for. You could also have a catalog site for multiple products, although that is not the recommended method of selling online.

Step 5: Traffic generation. Now you’re ready to get folks visiting your website. There are many methods for generating traffic, but I’ll just touch on a few. You can buy traffic via pay-per-click or text ads. You can generate traffic by submitting articles to article directories. You can have a blog on your site and generate traffic via blog and ping and through social networking. All are great methods of getting traffic, but it is recommended you choose one method and learn all you can about it before moving on to another method.

Step 6: Follow up and follow through. If you rely on only one encounter with your prospect to sell your product, you will be severely disappointed with your results. As a general rule, someone needs to see your message up to seven times before they will take action. The best way to overcome this is to have a very good reason for somebody to keep coming back to your site so that you can follow up with them, or you need to collect their email and/or snail mail address so that you can continue following up with them. When following up with your prospects be sure to provide them information they can use and don’t just spam them with your sales material.

If you follow these six simple steps and go even more in depth with each step, you will help insure that you start a successful home based internet business.

As with any open ended question like ‘how to make money online’ the answers are many and varied. I’m going to hit on a few methods, some will seem obvious and may
even interest you. And others may hold no interest for you at all.

It’s okay. There’s no need to sweat not liking something… we’re going to talk about so much stuff in these pages, we”ll surely hit on something you are passionate about :-)

The last method I mention is the one that I feel is the absolute easiest to make money with and it’s the method we’re going to spend the most time on.

It’s one of the highest rated wholesale directories online and is very reasonably priced.

Of course… you don’t have to buy anything and I would never encourage anyone to spend their last dollar on a wholesale dropship directory.

But, if you can afford it and you are serious about setting up an ecommerce web site…. you can’t go wrong with the the wholesale dropship directory.

You could also look into importing products from another country. A great source for that is www.alibaba.com.

Alibaba.com is a huge site with a ton of companies trying to find wholesale buyers for their products. If you are interested in the import game, alibaba is definitely a site you should check out.

Yes I have made money on ebay. Not huge amounts, but some cash.

I have a couple of products. When I have listed them I get a quick few sales, but then interest goes away and sales stop.

But, if I wait a few months I can start selling again and I’ll get a few quick sales… I know, it’s weird.

It’s been awhile since I had them listed. About time to list them again ;-)

I also have a few other items I’ve successfully sold…, plus a bunch more that haven’t sold at all.

Most of what I sell on ebay is stuff I sell over and over again, like CD’s I burn or manuals I print out… things of that nature.

You can also use ebay to get rid of your junk. In fact selling things around the house is a great way to get started on ebay, by generating a little seed cash for investing in other products you can sell.

You can find hot selling products, find a drop shipper for that product and setup a sales process for those items.

But be careful…this may be the hardest ebay method… profits can be slim when selling drop ship items on ebay… so be careful, do your research!

Another popular ebay method is to scour thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales and flea markets for HOT collector items. If you find the right item you can turn a huge profit… huge.

That about covers the brief intro to ebay.
